Hello everyone and welcome to tonight’s U16’s fixture between the Bradford Bulldogs and the Sheffield Swamp frogs
A couple of weeks ago we made the trip to Grimsby. With a small ice pad and Grimsby being a very physical team it’s never an easy fixture at the best of times. We were missing four guys from our bench for various reasons and with Charlie away on holiday and Aaron at Solihull with our senior team we were left without a coach too. So in stepped Robert shears ( “spud” to those who know him) who plays his hockey with our rec team. he’d never seen us play before so he didn’t know how we played as a team or what skills we had as individuals, but he has played many a game at Grimsby so had plenty of advice for our guys based on his own experience,
His advice obviously paid off as we came away with 6-1 win. Goals coming from Bobby Streetly (3), Josh Turner (1) a centre ice rocket shot from Liam Kirton (1) and possibly the best goal I’ve seen all season from Jack Dransfield (1), breaking out of our zone and speeding unchallenged down the ice jack played a dummy shot to the right then slid the puck home to the left leaving the Grimsby net minder fuming.
Man of the match went to Jack Dransfield not just for his outstanding goal, but for his efforts throughout the game, for a little guy he play’s a big game. All our guys gave 100%
From start to finish and I hope we can do the same today, both ourselves and Sheffield are chasing the play off position so this should be an action packed game.
Any way! Back to tonight game the best of luck to both teams, let’s see lots of goals on the ice and hear lots of noise off it.
I would like to thank all the friends and family involved in the club for all their help in making games run smoothly, we couldn’t do it without you and it is much appreciated.
On behalf of myself, Andy, Charlie, Aaron & all the guys on our bench may I say a big thank you to Spud, cheers mate!
Finally to all the guys on the Bradford bench, keep up the good work and enjoy the game and on behalf of the club may I wish everyone a safe journey home.
